The fundraising group, »Förderkreis Neues Bauhaus-Museum Weimar e. V.« was founded on 5 March 2008 – by Dieter Bauhaus (Chairman of the Sparkasse Mittelthüringen), Prof. Dr. med. Julius Michael Curtius (Internist), Martin Kranz (Managing Director, kulturdienst: GmbH), Municipal Cultural Director Julia Miehe, Hellmut Seemann (President of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar), Helmut Sieckmann (Chairman of the »Freunde und Förderer der Kunstsammlungen zu Weimar«) and Prof. Dr. Gerd Zimmermann (Rector of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar). The main objective of the charitable association is to support the enlargement der Bauhaus collection and to promote the construction of a new Bauhaus Museum in Weimar.
